On Saturday, August 20, 2005, nearly 1000 people gathered at the United Nations Plaza in San Francisco to rally and march to increase the awareness of the plight of native hawaiians. This was promted by the ruling by the 9th Circit court of appeals that stated that the Kamehameha Schools policy of giving preference to Hawaiians is unconstitutional.
